Another heat warning is in store for Canada’s Capital this week, and it’s not letting up for most of it. How hot are we talking? At least 30 degrees Celsius, and as much as 45 degrees if you count the Humidex. In light of the latest stretch of flood damage, not everyone has access to a working A/C right now, and many are scrambling to get it back. How busy is the HVAC sector right now? Kristy Cameron picks the brain of Tim Suitter, the co-owner of Capital City Heating and Cooling. Meantime, businesses within walking distance of Ottawa Bluesfest say the annual festival has become one of their busiest times of the year. Over at Beyond The Pale on Albert Street, customers have been dropping by for a visit before the gates open, and sometimes returning after the encore. Hockey is still king in Canada despite the relative success of the national soccer team in this year’s FIFA World Cup, as well as the increased profile of Toronto and Vancouver as hosts of several games. This is the conclusion shown by a Leger survey conducted for the Association of Canadian Studies, which sought to understand whether the heightened visibility of the World Cup has had an impact on Canadian sports preferences.
