The price of fish and chips is going up this summer in Atlantic Canada. Here’s why

The Pleasant Street Diner in Dartmouth, N.S., serves about 1,000 pounds of fresh haddock per week. But early this month, their supplier increased the price of the historically affordable fish by 40 per cent, or about $5 per pound. Overnight, their weekly haddock expenses went up $5,000.
