The substitute teacher who has been dubbed a "predator" after he sexually touched students in Prince Edward Island classrooms and exploited his own relationship with another child to create child sex abuse material has been sentenced to seven and a half years in federal prison.

The province's latest numbers suggest fires have burned through more than 7,250 square kilometres of Ontario's forest, surpassing the previous record set in 2021.
