Hour 3 of Ottawa Now for Tues. July 21st, 2026

July 21, 2026

A batch of new Trump tariffs are slated to hit Canada within the next 30 days, and some of Canada’s CUSMA-protected exports will be feeling the pain this time. How significant, you may ask? How about a 50% tax? Once again, meeting with the media today, America’s President said that Canada can’t survive without the United States. So how should Canada respond this time? Kristy Cameron sifts through the CFRA textboard and tackles today’s Question of the Day. Meantime, it’s been 20 days since a massive downpour destroyed thousands of basements and properties in Canada’s Capital. The Ford government has rolled out DRAO funding for some of the affected areas, but some of the hardest-hit communities are still scrambling for help. We check in with Jennifer Johnston, who lives in Crystal Beach. She is currently ineligible for DRAO funding, and she doesn’t have any insurance or flood coverage.
