Dispose of storm-related waste this weekend: Landfill, hazardous waste and e-waste options available

Residents have additional options to dispose of excess storm-related waste, including household hazardous waste and e-waste.

If you were impacted by the extreme weather event on Wednesday, July 1, you have additional options to dispose of any excess waste, including household hazardous waste and e-waste. 

Trail Waste Facility Landfill open Saturday, July 25 

NEW: The Trail Waste Facility Landfill will be open to receive storm-related waste and debris on Saturday, July 25 from 8 am to 4 pm. On other days, please check the hours of operation. 

Residents whose properties were affected by the storm and who have submitted a City service request for a flooded basement or storm-related waste may dispose of eligible storm-damaged materials at the Trail Waste Facility Landfill free of charge. Please submit a service request online or by calling 3-1-1, then bring your service request number, valid photo identification and proof of your address. 

If you already paid disposal fees at the Trail Waste Facility Landfill between July 2 and 14 for storm-related waste, you may be eligible for reimbursement. Please note that the City of Ottawa cannot provide reimbursement for disposal fees paid at other waste collection facilities. 

Household Hazardous Waste drop-off events 

Household Hazardous Waste can be dropped off at the following events: 

Saturday, July 25   Kanata Research Park  373 Leggett Drive 8 am to 4 pm 

Saturday, August 8  Innes Snow Dump  2170 Mer Bleue Road 8 am to 4 pm  

Electronic waste drop-off events 

Electronic waste can be dropped off free of charge at Trail Road Facility Landfill or at the following electronic waste drop-off events: 

Saturday, July 25  Redeemer Alliance Church   4825 Innes Road 10 am to 4 pm  

Saturday, August 15 Bob MacQuarrie Recreation Complex - Orléans 1490 Youville Drive 10 am to 4 pm 

Curbside waste collection 

Residents affected by the extreme weather event on July 1 should request storm-related waste collection beyond the standard three-item limit.  

If you have waste from the July 1 extreme weather event that needs to be collected and you haven’t submitted a service request for basement flooding, follow these steps for pick-up: 

• Place all eligible materials at the curb
• Submit a service request for garbage collection online or call 3-1-1
• Select ‘storm-related waste’ in the drop-down menu under ‘What is the issue?’ 

Construction and demolition material 

Residents can set out two containers of construction and demolition materials for storm-related waste collection by submitting a service request. Large amounts of construction and demolition debris can be taken to the Trail Waste Facility Landfill for disposal.
