Wildfire evacuees from First Nations in Ontario's far north face uncertainty, mental health toll

There are now more than 2,800 wildfire evacuees across Ontario, many of whom come from First Nations. As evacuees from Ontario's north navigate unfamiliar cities hundreds of kilometres from home, many are facing challenges affecting their health and well-being.
Quebec recorded above-average wildfire activity in July, with lightning sparking more than 40 per cent of fires, the province's wildfire protection agency says.

Most Canadians say the federal government should hold on to ownership of the Trans Mountain pipeline corridor, according to a new poll. Data from the Angus Reid Institute found that 54 per cent of Canadians surveyed believe Ottawa should remain as owner of the Trans Mountain Expansion Project (TMX), which runs from Edmonton to the Westridge Marine Terminal in Burnaby, B.C. This is compared to 23 per cent who would sell to the private sector to recoup taxpayer funds.
