Man shot at controversial Halifax park criticizes decision to cut security weeks earlier

Early on July 12, Robert Gaudet was hanging out in a public park across from the homeless shelter where he was staying. The next thing he knew he was shot four times. The shooting has highlighted the vulnerability of unhoused people who spend most of their lives out in the open.
People have donated more than $700,000 to fund the restoration of 24 Sussex Drive since a fundraising campaign was announced last month, according to the Rideau Hall Foundation.
