Rising Filipino tennis star Alex Eala will play at the National Bank Open in Toronto on Wednesday in front of a sold out crowd of 10,000, fresh off a historic win at the Mubadala Open in Washington, D.C., making her the first tennis player from the Philippines to bag a WTA title.
Pedestrians and cyclists will get their first look at the Gordie Howe Bridge’s free, multi-use path on Wednesday as the bridge opens to active transportation at 8 a.m.

Longtime CTV News anchor Lloyd Robertson has died at the age of 92, the network is reporting. Robertson died Tuesday night, according to his family, the network said. No cause of death was given. “A true giant. Canada has lost a broadcast legend,” said Lisa LaFlamme, his successor as CTV National News anchor, said on Instagram. “This truly is the end of an era.” Robertson retired in 2016, after a long career that began at a radio station in Stratford, Ont,, his hometown, in 1952.
