I predict that on Friday, August 28 at 4 PM, Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre will finally instruct his elected caucus to initiate the removal of Jamil Jivani - the MP representing Bowmanville-Oshawa North. However, locals prefer the title Member of Parliament from Mar-a-Lago. The ejection will occur through the internal party mechanism known as the Reform Act, which conveniently allows a caucus to vote to expel members, elect a caucus chair, hold leadership reviews, and select an interim leader.
First elected on March 4, 2024, this American-style gadfly of a Canadian politician has spent the last two years making Poilievre’s life a living nightmare. He has made a career out of routinely blaming Canadians, playing cheerleader for Donald Trump and JD Vance, and generally existing as an unbearable nuisance to the entire country.
Oddly enough, Jivani’s handlers are notorious for their ties to former party advisors and ex-lobbyists - the very crew that escorted him across the country between late 2025 and March 2026 for his "Restore the North" campus tour. Frequently joined at these events by fellow weirdo MP Ned Kuruc, this national series of university roadshows was explicitly modeled after American far-right populist nationalist events targeting angry young white male incels. Unsurprisingly, who actually footed the bill for the merchandise and tour expenses remains a complete mystery, though every event seemed to follow right on the heels of JD Vance’s public talking points. Coincidence, or intentional coordination between the Charlie Kirk and Jamil crowd?
Adding to his impressive portfolio of irrelevance, Jivani picked a high-profile fight with Ontario Premier Doug Ford in April 2025. Apparently offended that Ford was prioritizing provincial governance over playing defense for Donald Trump and JD Vance, Jivani whined that the Premier was being far too friendly with federal Liberals and insufficiently loyal to his American idols. Ford naturally brushed off the delusion to focus on actual work, leaving Jivani to scream endlessly into the void about trade and political strategies that dare to criticize his beloved MAGA leaders.
If Prime Minister Mark Carney can stand up to Donald Trump and JD Vance, why wouldn't Pierre Poilievre stand up to Jamil Jivani? The longer Jivani remains in the Conservative Party of Canada, the more the party loses the trust of mainstream Canadians and the weaker Poilievre looks for tolerating him. My guess is the party won't stop at caucus expulsion; the National Council will revoke his party membership entirely, officially making Jamil persona non grata.
