Albertans will be tasked with juggling many ideas in this October’s referendum. Some they may have not had front-of-mind, including who should appoint the judges who sit on the province’s higher courts, the Court of King’s Bench and the Court of Appeal.

The candidate nomination period for the 2026 Municipal Elections has closed. The nomination period began on Friday, May 1, and ended today at 2 pm. 181 candidates were certified, with 10 candidates being elected by acclamation.
