N.L. premier says referendum on Churchill Falls axed due to Ottawa partnership, U.S. tariffs

Newfoundland and Labrador Premier Tony Wakeham says political circumstances are behind his decision to forgo putting a new Churchill Falls deal to the public as previously promised.
Vance, speaking at a political event in Maine, claimed talks were still ongoing despite Prime Minister Mark Carney pulling Canada out of the negotiations late last week.
