A coroner's report found that the death of 29-year-old Abisay Cruz following a police altercation in 2025 was accidental, but that the hogtie technique used by police to restrain him may have been a contributing factor.

The meeting being arranged by the Quebec premier and CAQ leader for Monday night comes as Canada prepares to impose retaliatory tariffs on a wide range of U.S. goods the following day. The tariffs will range from 15 to 50 per cent and apply to products including dairy, steel, copper and some beauty products.
