Hour 3 of Ottawa Now for Mon. August 24th, 2026

August 24, 2026

Last week, U.S. President Trump was ready to pull the trigger on a series of 50% tariffs against Canada. Fast-forward to Wednesday, and it appeared that a deal to avoid said tariffs was in the works. But as the clock struck Midnight on Friday, everything fell apart. We don’t know the specifics of the deal, and we don’t know the exact warning signs that spooked Canada, but the bottom line is that we no longer have a deal and the latest wave of Trump tariffs are now in play. Guest host Chris Holski sifts through the CFRA textboard and tackles today’s Question of the Day. Then, we turn things over to our Political Heat Panel, who have plenty of things to say about the past 72 hours.
