Hour 2 of Ottawa Now for Tues. August 25th, 2026

August 25, 2026

We’ve got a handful of municipal announcements and pledges from both Ottawa and Gatineau. CFRA’s Andrew Pinsent has the latest from the municipal campaign circuit in Hour 2. Meantime, it’s completely natural to feel dread over geopolitical decisions that we can’t directly control. That is, unless, you’re a member of the federal government or the Prime Minister himself. And while we collectively have some buying power over what’s happening, we can’t magically fix international trade deals or dictate foreign policy. And then, of course, U.S. President Trump trumpets the Trumpian narratives that we’ve all heard before. All of that, stockpiled at once, can create a feeling of helplessness. But how can you cut through the negative baloney? Benslyne Avril, a licensed psychotherapist practicing in Westboro, offers some of her helpful pointers. Plus, we’ve got some extremely sad news out of Hollywood this afternoon, as country music legend Dolly Parton has passed away at the age of 80. Matt Demers remembers the life and legacy of one of America’s most humble music icons.
