Hour 3 of Ottawa Now for Fri. August 28th, 2026

August 28, 2026

Nine months after the Ford government disabled Ottawa’s speed cameras, more than 60 percent of drivers are speeding through an octagon of photo radar locations. Now, these cameras have been turned off, but the City of Ottawa hasn’t stopped keeping track of these lead-footed drivers. On average, drivers are going 7 to 13 kilometres faster than they were in 2025. Maybe we don’t get a full reinstatement, but should City Hall advocate for a photo radar renewal in school zones only? Kristy Cameron sifts through the CFRA textboard and tackles today’s Question of the Day. Switching gears to a different topic, OC Transpo’s General Manager isn’t ruling out a redesign of Moodie Station on the O-Train’s Western Extension. This comes after a Canada Day downpour wreaked a lot of havoc in the area. However, Rick Leary says it’s ‘too early to definitively determine’ whether it’s needed, or what it could involve. College Ward councillor Laine Johnson drops by for a visit in Hour 3. Plus, we hear more details about Kristy’s week off! It wasn’t as hectic as the last one she took, but it wasn’t smooth sailing.
