Danielle Smith avoids separation talk at Alberta Day address

Premier Danielle Smith avoided the topic of provincial separation as she marked the anniversary of Alberta becoming a Canadian province but she noted in a short speech that Canada recognizes the province's importance.

The meeting comes as Canada prepares to impose retaliatory tariffs on a wide range of U.S. goods on Sept. 8 in response to President Donald Trump's own 50 per cent tariffs.
