2026 Municipal Elections – Verify your information on the Voters’ List and make a plan to vote

Voting Day in the 2026 Municipal Elections is Monday, October 26. Eligible electors will have the opportunity to vote for their choice of Mayor, City Councillor and School Board Trustee.

Eligible electors can verify, add, or amend their information on the Voters’ List from Tuesday, September 1 to Sunday, September 20, at 4:30 pm by using the 'Am I on the Voters' List?' tool on ottawa.ca/vote. You can also complete and submit an ‘Application to add or amend my information on the Voters’ List’ to the City of Ottawa’s Elections Office (1221 B Cyrville Rd) or any City of Ottawa Client Service Centre. 

The application is also available in hardcopy at the Elections Office or any Client Service Centre.

After Sunday, September 20, electors can update their information on the Voters’ List at a voting place on voting days. 

Eligible electors in the 2026 Municipal Elections can choose to vote by special mail-in ballot, by proxy, or in person. 

Any eligible elector can apply to vote by special mail-in ballot from September 1 to September 15 at 4:30 pm:

• Online using the online application tool at ottawa.ca/vote.
• By email: 
  • Complete the 'Application for a special mail in ballot' form.
  • Send the completed form to the Elections Office at elections@ottawa.ca.
• By mail: 
  • Complete the 'Application for a special mail in ballot' form.
  • Print and mail the completed form to the Elections Office at 1221 Cyrville Rd, Unit B, Ottawa, Ontario, K1J 7S8.

The application is also available in hardcopy at the Elections Office and all Client Service Centres. 

Special ballot voter kits will be mailed the week of September 21. Completed special mail-in ballots must be received at the Elections Office or any Client Service Centre by 8 pm on October 16 to be counted. Any special mail-in ballots received after this deadline will not be counted.

From September 1 to October 26 at 4:30 pm, eligible electors can appoint a proxy to vote on their behalf. A proxy must be an eligible elector in the City of Ottawa and can still cast their own ballot. 

To appoint a proxy, the elector and the person they want to appoint must fill out two copies of the 'Appointment for Voting Proxy - Form 3'. The proxy must take the two completed forms to the Elections Office  or any Client Service Centre during regular business hours to have them certified by City staff from September 1 to October 26 at 4:30 pm. 

The form is also available in hardcopy at the Elections Office or any Client Service Centre.

In-person voting in the 2026 Municipal Elections will begin on October 1 with an “anywhere voting” model, allowing electors to cast their ballot from 10 am to 8 pm at any of the voting places listed below regardless of their qualifying address.

8. CARDELREC Recreation Complex Goulbourn, 1500 Shea Rd
9. Greely Community Centre, 1448 Meadow Dr
10. Churchill Senior Centre, 345 Richmond Rd

During Advance Voting Day and Voting Day, electors must vote at their assigned voting place. Voting places will be open from 10 am to 8 pm, with the exception of voting places in long-term care facilities or institutions that may have reduced hours. 

An elector’s assigned voting places can be found on their Voter Notification Letter, by using the 'Where do I vote?’ search tool, or by contacting the Elections Office.

All voting places will be fully accessible, and information about accessible tools and initiatives is available on ottawa.ca/vote.
