A planned renewal of the federal excise tax on fuel that was to kick in after Labour Day will be paused, Canada's finance minister is to announce Wednesday afternoon.

There have been at least 110 confirmed tornadoes across Canada so far this year, surpassing the average of 65. Saskatchewan, Alberta and Ontario had the highest numbers compared to other provinces.
