Hour 1 of Ottawa Now for Fri. September 4th, 2026

September 4, 2026

Austin Lee is making his Ottawa Now hosting debut, as he fills in for Kristy Cameron this afternoon. She is enjoying some long weekend sunshine at the closest cottage she could find. If elected next month, Ottawa mayoral candidate Alex Lawson is promising to rip up on-street parking meters and offer free parking on City of Ottawa streets. He unveiled his plan earlier this morning with a short-and-sweet tagline: Stop feeding the meter. That conversation is on the way in Hour 1. Meantime, you’ve heard of the Buy Canadian movement, but a ByWard Market café is now calling on Canadians to drink Canadian. Le Moulin de Provence posted a video on social media this week, crossing out Americano on its coffee menu and renaming it ‘Canadiano’. We check in with Nicholas Bonnet, the Operations Manager at Le Moulin de Provence. But first, we bring you up to speed on today’s top headlines.
