The latest unemployment numbers from Statistics Canada are in, and here is what they are telling us. The previously red-hot labour market is no longer hot, as it stalled out to end the Summer with a loss of 42,000 jobs in August. As a whole, the unemployment rate held steady at 6.4 percent last month. Prior to this rough patch, the labour market saw 181,000 jobs added from April through July.
