For Immediate Release
OTTAWA – Wednesday Ottawa – and at transit stations across the country – Liberal candidates are meeting with local commuters to share Justin Trudeau’s plan to make historic investments in public transit to meet the needs of local communities, said Andrew Leslie, Liberal candidate for Orléans.
“The people of Ottawa talk to me about the frustration that comes with inefficient and inaccessible public transit options. A Liberal government led by Justin Trudeau will make historic investments in public transit to strengthen the middle class, grow the economy, and ensure that people spend less time commuting, and more time with their families,” said Mr. Leslie.
“Investing in public transit means not only making sure people can get to work and school on time, but also growing our community and local economy.” Whether its hours spent sitting in gridlock, packed subway cars, increasingly polluted air, or having
insufficient transit options to get from point A to point B, transit issues affect our daily lives. All Canadians, in communities large and small, will benefit from the Liberal plan to significantly invest in public transit. A Liberal government will work with provincial and municipal leaders to see that the priority needs of our residents are met.
This could mean: “Canadians from coast to coast to coast have voiced their overwhelming support for the Liberal public transit plan. They understand that communities that grow and thrive are those that invest in their own future and build ambitiously,” said Anita Vandenbeld Liberal candidate for Ottawa West – Nepean.
“A Liberal government will ensure that we prioritize investment in transit and, in the process, create goodpaying jobs, strengthen the middle class, and leave an even better country to our kids and grandkids.”
