Conservative No-Shows

Conservative candidates not showing up to all candidates meetings sends a clear message.

(This letter is Authorized by EdwardFarnworth)

It is telling that there was no Conservative candidate at the all-candidates meeting organized by the City of Ottawa. Apparently this is happening in many ridings, where Conservative candidates are “too busy” to show up. They would rather be out knocking on doors.

Good excuse? It is, until you realize that in many cases, people are not home, or if they are, the upcoming election is not something they want to talk about. Voters who show up for an all candidates meeting are engaged, they intend to vote, and they are looking for information on issues important to them. It makes it easy to hear the different points of view being offered by the various political parties, and can help the average voter to decide who best represents their opinions and ideas for the future of our country. Perhaps that is why they are not showing up.

By not showing up at these public events, the Conservatives are sending a clear message – we don’t want to hear what people think, and we don’t want to defend our past record or our future plans in a forum where the other parties are able to do the same. Based on how they have been running the country since getting elected, it is no surprise that they don’t want to attend an open, public event.

It is frightening to hear that the Conservatives are shouting down calls for change, and are promising that if they are elected, they will deliver more of the same. The choice is clear.
