It’s time to hit the reset button according to the Prime Minister. Whether it will save his government is still to be seen.
Parliament has been prorogued until late September. The WE Scandal has dragged down the image and support of the Liberals and it has shown Finance Minister Bill Morneau the door. Chrystia Freeland has now been placed into the Finance portfolio with a Cabinet Shuffle expected before September 23rd when the Liberals will hold a Throne Speech and Confidence vote. If they lose that, we’re heading to the polls. An ethics investigation remains in place into the Prime Minister’s conduct into the WE Scandal.
In the past, both Conservative and Liberal Prime Ministers have used the procedure to shut down Parliament - to end political investigations.
