In April, I interviewed singer-songwriter JD Souther, famous for his collaborations with Linda Ronstadt, James Taylor and the Eagles (Best of My Love, Heartache Tonight and New Kid in Town). He gently chastised me over the phone for not keeping up with what he’d been up to lately and said a tour was in the works for the fall.There will always be a next time to see a musician, except when there isn’t. In Mr. Souther’s case, there won’t ever be one again. He died on Sept. 17, at age 78, a week before he was set to begin the tour.

Not surprising. They aren’t as good as they are made out to be. Especially in net. As long as Canadian goalies continue to play on their knees, we will never be great again.
