Canada, allies pledge to help secure Ukraine if peace deal reached

Leaders from a group of Western countries, including Canada, have signed a joint declaration vowing to provide security guarantees to backstop a peace agreement in Ukraine, but the document is not legally binding and many details remain unresolved.

The declaration was signed on Tuesday in Paris after the leaders from the 35 members of the Coalition of the Willing met at the Élysée Palace with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky as well as U.S. envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner.
