On reading your article on Heated Rivalry I saw to my dismay that there were repeated references to Ottawa being a boring city. I moved here because it was just the opposite: a dynamic bilingual city with excellent restaurants, a wide choice of theatre and concert entertainment and easy access to the outdoors where you can be downhill skiing or swimming in a cool, northern lake half an hour after leaving work. Dawn had not yet broken in Jerusalem on October 7, 2023, when Baruch Apisdorf received a text message from his best friend. David Newman, 25, had borrowed Apisdorf’s car to go to a music festival in southern Israel.
