Hour 3 of Ottawa Now for Mon. January 26th, 2026

January 26, 2026

As announced by Prime Minister Carney this morning, some Canadians are getting a GST credit to help manage the rising cost of groceries. According to the feds, a family of four will receive up to $1,890 in 2026 thanks to these increases, compared to $1,100 a year as the credit exists now. A single person would receive $950 this year, compared to the previous $540. Would this GST boost make a difference for you?
