After a lengthy battle, Meta and YouTube must pay millions of dollars in damages to a 20-year-old woman. It follows a California jury's conclusion that the social media giants designed their platforms to hook younger users without concern for their well being. And now, Wednesday's verdict in a first-of-its-kind lawsuit could influence the outcome of thousands of others that are similar in nature - accusing social media companies of deliberately causing harm.
