Ford government's 'special economic zones' law facing constitutional challenge

Ontario passed Bill 5, which included the special economic zone provision, last year in a bid to speed up approval and construction of large projects like mines. The provision allows cabinet and the environment minister to suspend any and all provincial and municipal laws within such zones as they see fit.
Mark Carney is set to address the convention on Saturday at 2 p.m. ET — the first time he has done so since winning the leadership.
