Temporary traffic impacts on Richmond Road at Bayshore Drive for overpass renewal

Traffic impacts around the Richmond Road overpass at Bayshore Drive will start Wednesday, April 29 until summer 2027.

The City of Ottawa will begin construction on the Richmond Road overpass near Bayshore Drive on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, starting at 8 pm. This bridge work is part of the Renewal of the Richmond Road overpass near Bayshore Drive and includes upgrades to improve pedestrian and cycling access on the overpass.

Construction will be completed in stages through summer 2027. Temporary traffic disruptions are expected throughout the project.

Access to Bayshore Shopping Centre will remain open throughout construction.

Traffic impacts

  • Lane reductions and intermittent restrictions will be in place on Richmond Road, between Holly Acres Road and Bayshore Drive, at various times to minimize impact to residents, businesses and commuters.
  • There will be no left turns permitted from the westbound Highway 417 off-ramp to westbound Richmond Road.
  • There will be no left turns permitted from eastbound Richmond Road to Bayshore Drive.
  • There will be no left turns permitted from the southbound Bayshore Drive lanes to eastbound Richmond Road.

Please allow extra time for your travels as traffic delays are expected. Signage is in place to help navigate detours.

OC Transpo

During Stage 1 of the project, OC Transpo Routes 11, 57, 81, and 691 will be detoured when exiting Bayshore Station via Holly Acres Road and Richmond Road, due to the turn restrictions at the intersection of Bayshore Drive and Richmond Road. For more information, please visit octranspo.com.
