Indigenous leaders criticize claim that Northern Ontario evacuees are burdening Niagara Falls tourism

Municipal officials in Niagara Falls, Ont., met with Indigenous leaders from Northern Ontario on Tuesday to discuss comments made at a public council meeting last week suggesting evacuees from Kashechewan First Nation were becoming a burden on tourism.
Prime Minister Mark Carney urged Canadians to remain united in a Canada Day speech in the nation's capital on Wednesday, but his plan to deliver similar remarks in Edmonton later in the day was upended by thunderstorms that prevented his plane from taking off on time.
