About the author

Looking back over 81 years I had the good fortune to have had a wonderful mom, a great wife and family, a successful career in business and excellent health. Sure there were ups and downs but they were too few to mention. Retirement for me means giving back some of that good fortune and I have chosen to advocate for those citizens who for reasons of their own cannot or will not fight for themselves. They include the old, sick poor, disabled and homeless.

A newly developed baseball stadium. Not by raising my property taxes!

June 13, 2013

Dear Ottawa media,

If I wanted to go to the former “lynx” stadium for a few hours of baseball I would gladly spend the money. I loved watching games with family while enjoying a coke and a hot dog together. But I don’t need nor want Ottawa City council spending $10 to $30 million dollars that the City doesn’t have, and then force me to pay for it through an increase of my already too high property taxes.

Eugene Melnyk didn’t ask or take one cent from my property taxes and I don’t expect City Council to do so either. Unless and until the fans are ready and willing to step up-to-the-plate and support baseball in Ottawa without raising my taxes, I suggest they have a wonderful time watching the “Jay’s “play in Toronto.

I’d really like to read in detail City Manager Kent Kirkpatrick’s business plan that justifies any continuation of this proposal.
