A Brighter Future for Canada as we divorce ourselves from the United States
The recent imposition of 25% tariffs on Canadian goods by the United States marks a significant shift in our bilateral relationship. It's time for Canada to reevaluate its strategic priorities and forge new alliances to secure its economic and national security interests
Canada must pivot away from overreliance on the United States and embrace a more diversified, globally integrated strategy. By strengthening ties with key allies, expanding economic partnerships, and investing in our own defense and intelligence capabilities, we can build a more resilient and prosperous nation
Part 1: Trade, to propel Canada's economy and strengthen our global standing, we need to:
-
Deepen Ties with Our Allies: Fully implement the CANZUK agreement with Australia, New Zealand, and the United Kingdom. This will foster closer economic and cultural bonds, creating new opportunities for trade, investment, and talent exchange.
-
Strengthen European Partnerships: Further integrate with the European Union through the Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA). By removing barriers to trade and investment, we can unlock significant economic growth for both sides.
-
Embrace Asia: Develop stronger economic ties with Asian nations, including China. While navigating complex geopolitical landscapes, we must seek mutually beneficial partnerships that drive innovation, create jobs, and enhance our global competitiveness.
By taking these steps, we can build a more prosperous and secure future for Canada and we don’t have to worry about 25% Tariffs from Donald Trump and his crazy Republicans who a majority of Americans voted for.
Part 2: National Security & Intelligence
It's time to take action. Canada, Australia, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, the UK, and the European Union need to step up their military game. We need to form a new alliance to protect our interests and support Ukraine and Taiwan.
Imagine a Pacific NATO. A strong alliance to keep Taiwan, Japan, and South Korea safe. We need to start planning this now.
We can't rely on the U.S. anymore. We need to cut the Americans out of the loop, especially when it comes to sensitive intelligence. Sharing information with President Trump or his cabinet picks is too risky for Canada or our allies. Trump's questionable direct friendship with Putin; and those of his surrogates who also have strange relations with China and India are a threat to our security and prosperity.
To truly protect ourselves, we need to build our intelligence network. Let's launch new intelligence-gathering satellites through the European Space Agency to make sure we're always one step ahead and this way we don’t need to share any data with the Trump Whitehouse.
Canada can thrive as an independent, global player if we organize ourselves now and put this plan of action together.
