It’s time for Russia’s neighbours to join the fight to remove Russian influence from their countries

August 12, 2024
Ukrainian soldiers raise their flag in Kursk Oblast, Russia.

Now that Ukraine’s military has successfully breached Russia’s border, an act that caught the over confident Russian President and his minions by surprise, the time has come for Russia’s other neighbours to join the fight. Not only is the time ripe for countries like Georgia, Armenia, Belarus, and Chechnya to remove Russia’s fingers from their cookie jars, but the huge blow Ukraine has just delivered now with 6,000 troops operating across 1000 square kilometres of Russian soil, has opened the door for open rebellion across the region.

Given Moscow's depleted resources and manpower due to the war in Ukraine, and their obvious inability to move fast enough to stop Ukraine's incursion, Russia would not be able to respond to widespread unrest in these neighboring countries if called upon.

If rebellion were to materialize, the embarrassment to Vladimir Putin would be so great that his removal from office would become the prudent thing for Russia to do because this is his war, fuelled by his dreams to re-establish a Russian monarchy in Eastern Europe. So an end to Putin's regime in this way would likely mean the end of the war in Ukraine and new treaties for all of Russia's neighbours.
