This is my comment on Joanne Chianello's column today comparing and contrasting Ottawa's mayor Jim Watson with Calgary's mayor Naheed Nenshi.

The public consultation format Calgary used to spend the $52 Million is the same approach I recommended during the Lansdowne Live public consultation debacle in 2009. I also made this recommendation in an interview with Mark Sutcliffe on CFRA at the time. You can read it here: http://bit.ly/11accvs.

Nenshi is correct when he says this is the 'right way' to consult the public. Its also easy, transparent, accountable, engaging and most importantly, fun!

When was the last time anyone had fun at a City of Ottawa public consultation meeting?
