Sign vandals strike in Ottawa Centre

May 31, 2014

OTTAWA — As with other Ottawa-area ridings, Ontario PC lawn signs have been stolen and vandalized in Ottawa Centre.

Between May 29 and May 31, along the Scott, Bayview, and Albert corridor, about 30 signs disappeared.

“It's sad to see these signs being stolen and vandalized,” said Rob Dekker, Ontario PC candidate for Ottawa Centre. “Our volunteers have been working incredibly hard, and to see their work undone by vandals is unfortunate.”

“You expect some signs to be damaged or to go missing during a campaign, but when this many signs go missing in one area, it's clearly a targeted effort,” said campaign manager Scott Gorry.

Theft or vandalism to election lawn signs is a criminal offense and any damage or theft witnessed should be reported to the police immediately.
