Town Hall Meeting. What Town Hall meeting?

We have all heard the thought provoking – “if a tree falls in the forest and no-one is there, does it make a noise.” How about, “if a political party holds a town hall meeting and no-one knows about it, is it really a town hall meeting?” Seems my MP Anita Vandenbeld (Liberal, Ottawa West Nepean)  has organized a town hall meeting entitled - Consultation on Taxation of Private Corporations. Now you would think that she would want as large and a diverse an audience as possible. I don’t understand, therefore, why I, as a long time paid member of the Liberal party, have not received notice of this meeting. I do get (very) periodic messages from the party asking for money to support a wide variety of important issues, and I do get from time to time news from my riding association. So I must be on a few mail-out lists. No, I don’t use Facebook as much as most people, and so a short mention of this Town Hall meeting in a Facebook posting didn’t get my attention.

Either my MP doesn’t want my opinion, or she thinks she doesn’t need my opinion. May-be she is correct. But what about all those others who could contribute to such a consultation? How were they supposed to know about this?
