Has there been an industry more impacted by the Covid pandemic than the airline industry? Tens of thousands of jobs slashed as Canadians stayed home instead of traveling. When the lockdown began, demand for air travel dropped in some cases by 90 percent.
Slowly, the industry is moving forward. But it will look different to anyone who hasn’t been in an airport in the last few months. Only staff and passengers are allowed inside now. Distancing measures are in place as are temperature checks and face masks.
Our Unpublished.vote question asked: Would you feel comfortable taking a flight in Canada right now?
Our audience response:
67.9 % = No
31.2 % = Yes
0.90 % = Unsure
Tonight's Special Guests:
- Prof. Karl Moore: Expert on the airline industry. Associate Professor, Desautels Faculty of Management, McGill University
- Gábor Lukács: President and Founder of Air Passenger Rights
- Anthony Norejko: President and CEO Canadian Business Aviation Association
UnpublishedTV (UTV) is the newest production from
Unpublished.Media. This weekly live panel discussion completes our set of four internet properties, created to help you influence and impact public policy decision-making in Canada. They are:
UnpublishedOttawa.com, the Unpublished.cafe podcast and Unpublished.vote, an issue-based information and voting platform.
Each week we will introduce a new topic through the
Unpublished.Cafe podcast and Unpublished.vote, where you will find the podcast and background information from a variety of sources to help further inform, before you cast your vote and email your MP to tell them why you think what you do.
Then every Monday night at 8 pm Eastern Time, we will reconvene here on UTV to examine how the issue has evolved and how you—our audience--reacted to our poll question. We want your input as well, so be prepared to ask questions of the panel.
