Podcast: NAFTA
Today on Unpublished Cafe we talk about how the North American Free Trade Agreement has been a political football for many politicians, in particular US presidents, as we have seen since Donald Trump entered the presidential race in 2015. While he decries the deal as unfair to Americans, the agreement has accomplished it's seven goals.
To get an idea how much this means to all North Americans, in 2016, trilateral trade reached nearly USD $1 trillion – more than a three-fold increase since 1993. 400,000 people and over $2.4 billion worth of goods and services cross the Canada–U.S. border daily. Since 1993, Mexico-Canada merchandise trade grew nine-fold, while services trade has increased six-fold.
