COVID-19: Canada's Preparedness

The picture of Canada’s response to the Covid 19 pandemic is coming into focus...and it’s not pretty. Earlier this week, The House of Commons Health Committee received documents and emails, compiled from the Ministries of Health, Transport, National Defence, Public Safety and Foreign Affairs. The pages show a fluid challenge for Canada as it appeared the federal government would change tack several times as it wrestled with the incoming Covid 19 pandemic.

This highlights two glaring opprotunities in Canada’s Emergency Preparedness. First, better health surveillance to get a clearer picture of whatever emergency is heading our way. Second is proper use the National Emergency Strategic Stockpile.

Tom Korski is the managing editor of Blacklock’s Reporter, which first brought these details to light and he joins on today’s issue of the Unpublished Café. Be sure to check out the rest of our series on the COVID-19 pandemic here: https://bit.ly/2RuxJ69
