The economy can be likened to a cup. While we want to avoid overfilling and causing inflation, neither should we
underfill, tolerating insufficient job creation and much human suffering such as exists today. Targeted government spending can get 1.6 million unemployed Canadians back into productive work. The focus on fiscal anchors is irrelevant and misses what is important to the lives of Canadians. High unemployment for decades has weakened labour, allowed suppression of wages and led to the cost of living crisis so many families experience today.
