Court fines company $1.35M for western Quebec river spills

A Quebec company that operated a chemical manufacturing plant in eastern Gatineau, Que., has been fined $1.35 million for discharging a harmful substance in 2019, according to Environment Canada.
Some eastern Ontario municipalities said they're having to ration road salt or combine it with sand due to a provincewide road salt shortage caused in large part by an exceedingly snowy winter.
