The city is telling some tenants to pay less rent. Their landlords say otherwise

Tenants who live in older Ottawa apartment buildings were supposed to see a slight automatic drop in their rent at the start of 2026. But many are left wondering if they should actually pay less after getting conflicting information from their landlords.
Montreal officials said Sunday a boil-water advisory was in effect until further notice for residents of Ville-Marie, including Ile Sainte-Hélène, Ile Notre-Dame and Habitat 67.
