François Legault announced on Wednesday morning he will resign as Quebec Premier.
In a hastily arranged press conference at the National Assembly in Quebec City, Mr. Legault said he would step aside after nearly eight years in power, ahead of a scheduled fall election.
National home sales in Canada declined by 1.9 per cent in December compared to the same period a year earlier, according to the Canadian Real Estate Association, capping a year that saw lower interest rates but heightened economic anxiety.
