Hour 4 of Ottawa Now for Wed. January 21st, 2026

January 21, 2026

Just moments ago, Interim OC Transpo GM Troy Charter addressed the latest issues surrounding Ottawa’s LRT service. They identified an issue with the cartridge bearing assemblies on Line 1 vehicles, meaning all trains with a mileage over 100,000 kilometres are being removed from service to have their CBAs replaced. Until those repairs have been made, Line 1 will operate with single-car and double-car trains. CFRA’s Andrew Pinsent tries to make sense of it all. Meantime, an Ottawa city councillor has appeared in court, and has pleaded not guilty to impaired driving charges. CTV’s Katie Griffin delivers the details in Hour 4. And finally, if news breaks in real time, you’ll hear it live on CFRA’s Ottawa Now.
