Indigenous leaders call on Thunder Bay mayor to declare homelessness emergency as cold snap continues

January 26, 2026

Indigenous leaders in Thunder Bay have shared an open letter to the city’s mayor, calling for a state of emergency on homelessness to be declared. Extreme cold warnings have been in effect for much of the region since last week, and remain in place as of Monday afternoon.
