Bank of Canada governor Tiff Macklem warned that a loss of independence at the U.S. Federal Reserve would have knock-on effects north of the border and around the world.

The warning comes as the Assembly of First Nations confirmed at least one First Nations person recently had a negative encounter with ICE and has since returned to Canada.
