Protest campaign planned as Alberta government workers forced back to the office

Alberta’s 9,000 unionized provincial employees are going back to the office full time starting this weekend, but not without a brown bag protest.

Ontario is examining legislation that would allow special constables to arrest and ticket drug users. Today, Ottawa City Council has voted 17-7 to endorse that legislation. It would also expand present-day enforcement powers to OC Transpo special constables, who would be able to arrest and fine people using drugs on public transit. The motion was moved by Rideau-Vanier councillor Stéphanie Plante. She joins Kristy Cameron on today’s Ottawa Now.
