Canadians Need CSIS and the CSE to Monitor Our Politicians

June 3, 2024

Political parties are not private clubs. They receive funding from taxpayers. Parties exist because they want to run Canada's government; if they win an election. That responsibility comes with expectations of clarity in the process.

We need Elections Canada to manage all of our federal political party candidate selection races. We also need Elections Canada to manage and run all of our federal political party leadership races, with the help of a security agency like CSIS.

Political parties are not private clubs. They receive funding from taxpayers. Political parties exist because they want to run Canada's government if they win an election. That responsibility comes with expectations of clarity in the process.

CSIS and the CSE should be performing detailed vetting procedures for all individuals who choose to seek office.

If we don't act now, Canadians may miss our final opportunity to ensure elections are legitimate. All political parties have a moral duty to Canadians to protect our political process.

Is the federal party candidate nomination process compromised? Do foreign governments such as China and India control our political parties?

Conservative and Liberal governments have known for decades that internal foreign political interference has been happening. Yet, our political  party leaders do nothing to stop it, why?

I believe Canadians need CSIS to be involved and for the CSE to monitor our politicians if we want truly FAIR elections.
