Hour 1 of Ottawa Now for Fri. February 20th, 2026

February 20, 2026

One man has died following Thursday night’s stabbing near the Rideau Centre, and police have taken one person into custody. Today, the OPS Homicide Unit is still investigating the area. It once again brings up the level of safety in Ottawa’s Downtown Core. Do you feel safe whenever you go there? Chris Lewis, a former OPP Commissioner, used to live in the area. He joins Kristy Cameron in Hour 1. Meantime, we are expecting another dusting of snow tonight, as we desperately try to get out of a snowy February. Doug Gillham, a meteorologist with The Weather Network, tells us what we can expect over the coming hours. But first, we bring you up to speed on today’s top headlines.
